Galatia Savva

Galatia began her RAD ballet training at the young age of three years old at the Dance Works School of Ballet. She passed all ballet exams including Advanced 2 with Distinction. In 2000 Galatia attended the Sussex Ballet Summer School as the first student from Cyprus and won a scholarship for the next year. In the same year she joined the youth company of Ballet Cyprus as corps des ballet and then a soloist dancing productions such as Sleeping beauty, Incontro, Copellia, and many others. In 2001 she joined the Nicosia Youth Ballet as one of its very first members and performed solos in choreographies by Mr Lambros Lambrou. In the same summer she did a summer internship with the London based Random Dance Company.  Reurning to the Sussex summer school in 2001 she won ‘’ best choreography’’ award for  Swan Lake and ‘’best performer’’ for La Bayadere. In 2002 at the age of 16 Galatia won a scholarship to join the elite Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance 3 year Professional Dance Diploma (BA HONS) in London making her the first Cypriot dancer to be accepted at the school. During her studies, Galatia danced the first soloist and principal roles at the renowned Royal Opera House in Giselle and Raymonda. She joined the Moving Visions dance company in 2004 whilst still a student and stayed on with the company until 2006 whilst also doing contemporary projects with R.A.G , Random Dance Company and the Rambert Dance Company. She joined Cyprus first professional ballet company Dance Cyprus as a first soloist in 2006 dancing ‘’sirens’’ with Italian choreographers Antonio Colandrea and the Cypriot Carolina Constantinou.  In 2007 she danced In ‘’White Magic’’with Dance Cyprus and also as a member of Nea kinisi dance company with Elena Christodoulidou. In 2008 she became a member of the Balletto di Toscana dance company in Italy where she remained for a year dancing in neoclassical and contemporary pieces and returned to Cyprus in 2009 to joined dance Cyprus again for its performance of ‘’Rhapsody’’- by choreographers  Julien Ficely (ballet de Loraine) and Carolina Constantinou.  In 2010 she perfomed ‘’Triptych ‘’ in Cyprus and moved to London to join the  contemporary.  Watkins Dance Company  in association with the Tavaziva African Contemporary Company. Galatia has been published and interviewed by many newspapers and dance magazines.
